
Men's Basketball Sweeps Northern Conference Awards, House Named Coach of the Year
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – On Wednesday, March 12th, the MCCAA and NJCAA Region 12 announced its award winners for the 2024-25 men's basketball season, with multiple members of the Mid Michigan College men's basketball team receiving honors.
Leading the way was head coach Kaleb House. Coach House was named MCCAA Northern Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Lakers to their first outright conference title in school history.
James Wright was named Northern Conference Player of the Year, All-Region, All-MCCAA, and First Team All-Northern Conference. The sophomore averaged a double-double with 22.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Wright leaves Mid with 1,106 career points, after surpassing 1,000 in the Lakers 125-80 victory over Alpena on Feb. 21st.
Freshman Amonti Greene was named Northern Conference Freshman of the Year, All-Region, All-MCCAA, All-Freshman, and First Team All-Northern Conference. The Mt. Pleasant native averaged 15.4 points and shot 38.4% from three-point range this season.
Earning Defensive Player of the Year honors was sophomore Joe Iung. He was also named to the All-Defensive and Second Team All-Northern Conference squads. The Fulton High School grad averaged 9.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
De'Antre Griffin earned All-Region, All-MCCAA, and First Team All-Northern Conference honors, after having a solid season averaging 17 points and 5.6 rebounds per night.
Landing Third Team All-Northern Conference honors was sophomore Vynce Overshown. He averaged 8.8 points and shot 38.2% from three this season.
Jaden Clark earned Honorable Mention All-Northern Conference as a freshman after posting 6.1 points per game.
The Lakers finished the 2024-25 season with a 25-6 overall record and 13-1 mark in MCCAA Northern Conference play.
