WBB Preview: Delta and ACC

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The No. 9 Mid Michigan College women's basketball team (15-2, 3-0 MCCAA North) will look to continue their 11-game winning streak this week. Mid will face Delta on Wednesday (Jan. 22) at 5:30 PM from Morey Courts, before hitting the road to take on Alpena at 1:00 PM Saturday (Jan. 25). 

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS: Delta is 5-10 overall and 2-1 in league play after beating North Central Michigan 77-55 on Saturday. As a team the Pioneers average 68.3 points per game. Hailey Jefferson led the team on Saturday with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Carah McCrum also had 18 points and seven rebounds in the win over the Timberwolves. Delta is led by head coach Jason Brown. 

SCOUTING THE LUMBERJACKS: The Lumberjacks enter the week 2-9 overall and 1-2 in MCCAA North play. They most recently played at Montcalm on Saturday and lost 50-35. Saige Flauther leads Alpena in scoring with 13.5 points per game, while Anna Herbolsheimer is the leading rebounder with 6.2 per contest. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Lakers scored 100+ points for the third straight game in last Saturday's 121-42 victory over Kirtland. Mid currently leads the MCCAA in overall scoring with 93.1 points per game. The Lakers also rank 12th in the NJCAA in steals per game with 15.7. Against the Firebirds last Saturday, Delaney Seaman posted 29 points on 12-of-14 shooting. Rachel Resio and Chloe Watson added 18 points each, while Paige Ebels scored 14 and Makayla Watkins 11. Watson also recorded eight assists while Resio had eight assists and six steals. 

UP NEXT: The Lakers will return home next week with a pair of games at Morey Courts. They'll face Muskegon at 5:30 PM Wednesday (Jan. 29), before hosting Bay at 1:00 PM Saturday (Feb. 1).
