
ICYMI: Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight State Title
LANSING, Mich. – If you haven't been following the No. 11 Mid Michigan College women's basketball team this season, you better start now as March Madness has arrived.
The Lakers (26-4) won their third straight MCCAA State Championship on Saturday (March 1st), defeating host Lansing 59-48 at Gannon Gymnasium.
Mid was led by Rachel Resio with 16 points, while Chloe Watson had 13 points and six rebounds. Jiaryatou Cisse added 6 points, nine rebounds, and an assist. Paige Ebels and Addysen Gray chipped in 9 points each.
Despite being outscored 18-3 in the third quarter, Mid was able to fend off the LCC (25-5) comeback. The Stars were led by Brianna Clark with 13 points.
Head Coach Lance Maney and the rest of his team will now prepare for the Great Lakes District C Tournament next weekend. The No. 1 seed Lakers will face the winner of GRCC-Southwestern Michigan at 9 a.m. Friday (March 7) morning inside Ballenger Fieldhouse on the campus of Mott Community College.
