WBB Preview: Delta and Kirtland

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The No. 6 Mid Michigan College women's basketball team (21-2, 9-0 MCCAA North) will look to continue their historic season this week against Delta and Kirtland. Wednesday's (Feb. 12) game at Delta will tip-off at 2:30 PM, before the Lakers host Kirtland at 1:00 PM Saturday (Feb. 15) from Mount Pleasant High School.

SCOUTING DELTA: The Pioneers are 7-14 overall and 4-5 in the Northern Conference. Delta was defeated by Mid on Jan. 22nd, losing 137-46. Most recently the Pioneers defeated Kirtland 78-55. Hailey Jefferson led the team with 13 points, while Amari'A Campbell added 10 points and six rebounds. Ja'Leeh Griggs chipped in 7 points and pulled down a team high 10 rebounds. 

SCOUTING KIRTLAND: The Firebirds enter the week 4-12 overall and 3-6 in conference play following Saturday's loss. Lucy Hall led the team with 15 points, Adrianna Gilmore posted 11 points and grabbed a game high 14 rebounds. Against Mid on Jan. 18th, Mariah Ellis led Kirtland with 12 points, while Delaney Seaman had a big game for Mid with 29 points, three rebounds, four assists, and six steals. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: In last Saturday's 124-48 victory over North Central Michigan, Chloe Watson scored 27 points, had seven rebounds, four assists, and five steals. Rachel Resio added 25 points along with three rebounds, one assist, and two steals. Alexus Dunn posted 18 points, Seaman added 14, and Paige Ebels recorded 12. 

Against Delta at Morey, Watson scored a career high 32 points, Resio had 16 points, 10 assists, and seven steals. Grace Chinavare scored 15 points, Addysen Gray added 14 points, Ebels and Dunn each had 13, and Seaman netted 12.

UP NEXT: Mid travels to Muskegon on Feb. 19th at 5:30 PM, before returning home to Morey Courts for Sophomore Night on Feb. 21st at 5:30 PM against Alpena.
